Privacy notice for pupils (child-friendly)

Plain-language explanation of what Five Wells keeps and who can see it, for reading with a teacher or parent.

Who it is for: Pupils (with a teacher or parent), SENCOs, DPOs
How to access it: Public. Schools may print this or adapt the wording in their own pupil privacy materials. It does not replace the school’s official notice.

This pack describes how Five Wells Education designs and operates the platform so schools can complete their own due diligence. It is not legal advice. The school remains the data controller for pupil and staff data it places in the product. A solicitor or DPO should review processing before go-live.

This is a computer at school

Five Wells is an app your school uses. It is not a social network. Teachers use it to notice kind, active, creative, and thoughtful things you do, and to help you on a Journey map.

What it remembers

Your name, your class, and credits your teachers give you.
Certificates and things you write or make in Journey, if your school uses that.
A photo of something you made, only if you or a teacher add one. You can also say you will show the teacher in class instead.
If your school turns on a “Well helper”, short questions you type. That helper is a computer, not a person. It can get things wrong.

Who can see it

Your teachers and school staff who are allowed to use Five Wells.
You, when you sign in.
Your parent or carer, if the school has given them a parent login.
Not children at other schools. Not the public internet, unless the school puts a corridor screen on (often with initials only).

If you are worried

Tell a teacher, parent, or another trusted adult. Do not put secrets, passwords, or home address in the app. The Well helper cannot keep you safe — a grown-up can.

Questions about your information

Ask your teacher or the school office first. The school decides what is kept. Five Wells looks after the computers for the school.
